1979 DeFever 43 Aft Deck Trawler – “The Sphinx”

The Sphinx is a 1979 DeFever 43 Aft Deck Trawler designed by Art DeFever and built in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. This vessel measures 43 feet in length with a 14-foot beam and features a solid fiberglass hull. It is powered by twin Ford Lehman 120-horsepower diesel engines with approximately 6,500 hours, along with two Kohler diesel generators (4 kW and 12.5 kW). Both engines and one generator are operational, while the second generator is not currently running.

The interior layout includes an aft master stateroom, a forward V-berth, a spacious salon, and a galley with sliding deck access. The vessel offers air conditioning, a full galley, and classic teak and fiberglass finishes. Some navigation equipment has been updated over time, and a 2014 survey is available for review.

This boat has been professionally maintained and taken out several times a year by its current owner. The vessel must be moved from its current location within 10 days of auction closing, as it is berthed at a private yacht club.
