For sale here is our 1986 Moody 34 “Ruhig” which we just finished sailing down to Portishead in the Bristol Channel from cruising the Western Isles of Scotland. She’s well suited for British sailing and is kitted out for heavy weather with a removable inner forestay, reefing lines led to the cockpit and 100m of ground tackle and oversized Rocna for deep anchorages. The Moody 34 is a fin keel (bilge keel options were available) with skeg hung rudder design by renowned designer Bill Dixon and built in Falmouth. She’s centre cockpit (as centre cockpit as you can be on a 34 foot boat) with a nice aft cabin that we’ve loved for the full-time cruising we’ve been doing since we bought her. Prior to our ownership, she was owned by another couple who took time off to circumnavigate Ireland and she comes with a complete history of paperwork and bills of sale all the way back to the builder’s certificate in 1986.   I’ll put all the boat specs and kit below but some additions we’re particularly fond of are: - Removable inner forestay - She comes with a stay that can be moved back and forth as you need it in heavy weather with a hank on stay sail. There were multiple times in the Clyde and the Western Isles where the wind would pick up and rather than sail, under reefed genoa, we’d roll in the entire sail and just jog along under reefed main and storm jib very comfortably. The 150% genoa also has 3 spares and is on an oversized Furlex roller furling for reefing off the wind. - Oversized ground tackle - I like to sleep soundly and the best way we’ve found is to have oversized modern anchor and a tonne of chain. Last year we fitted a 20kg Rocna anchor, 80m of 8mm galvanized chain with 20m of heavy nylon braid and never looked back. We’d routinely select deeper water in the anchorage where there were less boats when others simply couldn’t anchor. Summer and winter 2024 was also particularly bad and we’d sit out the worst storms on anchor by scoping 6:1 or more and never dragged. - Jacklines and Preventers - Although a small addition, the Moody 34 is well set up to have boom preventers that can be set from within the cockpit. For downwind and offshore sailing this has been a must for us and we’re super happy with the way the system is set up. Same goes for jacklines that run down the centre of the boat, so you can never actually reach the deck edge.   - Features and Kit (working back to front) - - Exterior - - 20kg Rocna anchor- 80m 8mm chain + 20m rope rode marked at 10m intervals- Various snubbers etc in bow locker- Lowrance electric windlass- Oversized Furlex roller furler- Removable inner forestay with strom jib- Sailpack with main (spare main in forward cabin storage)- Single line reefing with lines led aft to cockpit- Spray hood with spare and full cockpit tent- Small solar panel (enough to maintain batteries and run lights, nav etc but not enough for diesel heater)- Recently serviced Autohelm autopilot- Honwave dingy- Honda 23 Outboard- Liferaft (out of date)- Rear crane/davit for dingy mourning and outboard lifting etc.- Jacklines, preventers and spare lines (cockpit locker has lots of spare lines for everything)- Various spare sails, 2 spare 150% genoas, storm jib, spare main sail- Spare spray hood- Cockpit tent/enclosure- Spare delta anchor with 30m chain - Interior - - 1200W Victron inverter (for 240V offshore)- Victron Bluesmart charge controller- Solar charge controller- Renogy battery management system and monitor installed in saloon- Immersion water heater for shore power- Engine calorifier for offshore- Seperated engine and house bank- Diesel heater with remote control- Midland neptune 100 VHF radio- Plastimo Atlantic gimballing stove- Pioneer radio connected into 100W speakers in saloon- Isotherm fridge - On to the specs - Builder: Moody YachtsDesigner: Bill DixonYear Built: 1986Length Overall (LOA): 10.21m (33.5ft)Beam: 3.56m (11.67ft)Draft (Fin Keel): 1.52m (5ft)Displacement: 5,080kgKeel Type: Fin KeelAir Draft: 12.4m (40.66ft)Fuel Capacity: 160LWater Capacity: 182L - Construction - Hull Material: GRPHull Configuration: Fin keel and skeg hung rudderSteering: Wheel steering with pedestal - Engine & Systems - Engine: Thornycroft T90 inboard diesel (Engine number:680 Serial:9751)Heating: Planar Diesel heating system - Sails & Rigging - Rig Type: Sloop with removable inner forestay and adjustable backstay - Sails Inventory - 2x Mainsail3x Headsails 2x 150% genoa 1x 120%jibHank-on storm jib - Accommodation - Berths: 6 2 in forward cabin with V-berth2 in spacious aft cabin with double berthConvertible double berth on saloon starboard sideSea berth with lee cloths on port side - Galley - Two-burner plastimo atlantic stoveIsotherm fridgeStainless steel double sink with hot and cold pressurized water - Heads - Jabsco marine toiletBasin with shower head and shower curtain (shower drain pump - Nav Station - Chart table with storage and seatingElectrical panel and instrumentation including back-up depth sounder - Sail Handling - Winches:2x primary2x secondary (great for running as a cutter or for managing preventers)1x halyard winch under spray hood Ruhig is in the water in Portishead Marina near Bristol and is ready to take her next owners on their adventure.

The Arcona 385 continues to uphold Arcona’s strong heritage of innovation and design excellence, using the finest materials and best craftsmanship without compromising on superior performance through the water. The Arcona 385 is a quick, lightweight and easy-to-manage 11.28m/38foot performance cruiser. Her predecessor, the Arcona 380, was launched in 2013 and has won many racing accolades. The new exterior styling of the Arcona 385 provides increased natural light in the saloon and galley due to the new larger hull windows and new larger coachroof windows. There is also a larger instrument panel above the companionway to incorporate larger instruments for the helm. The Arcona 385 will have an open transom as standard as not only does it allow more light into the cabin, but it also provides even more accessible stowage in the lazarette – a clear refinement from the Arcona 380. The Arcona 385 reflects the quality expected from Swedish boat builders using the latest materials, advanced techniques and handpicked suppliers. Her lay-up, which incorporates a 20mm Divinycell foam core, employs the latest vacuum infusion technology. All bulkheads are bonded to the hull and deck for added strength. At the heart of the boat is the galvanised steel cradle, taking all the dynamic loads of rig, mast, and keel, ensuring that the boat is strong, stiff and responsive. The side decks are wide and the cockpit is spacious with plenty of room for crew, family and friends. There are twin carbon wheels and the cockpit table is recessed into the cockpit floor. Arcona yacht interiors feature consistently high-quality woodwork and practical storage designs in clever locations. The generous saloon has been carefully thought out for optimum entertaining purposes. Taking in the full 3.8m beam of the yacht, there is plenty of space around the saloon table and she has a spacious galley. The Arcona 385 has three cabins as standard however the option of two cabins with a separate shower is also available. The choice of Khaya Mahogany or Scandinavian Light Oak interior and various other interior upholstery options are available as with all of the Arcona fleet. Assistance with choosing the best deckgear and sail wardrobe to meet with your sailing needs is also fully available from the Arcona team.
