Beschreibung
A fine workmanlike example of this very popular class of vessel Thalassa is sailed single handed, virtually on a daily basis, by an elderly gentleman and professional seaman. A very pretty vessel she is easy to handle with a tidy saloon and predominantly teak finished interior. The engine is a reliable Volvo Penta 2002 unit that has been regularly serviced, the last being earlier this current year. She has a wealth of equipment and spare parts and is in a "ready to go" condition.
Construction
Constructed with a solid GRP hull and GRP with foam sandwich construction decks and superstructure. The exterior of the vessel is mostly painted which makes touching up any defects particularly easy, the anti slip deck paint is particularly effective. The interior of the vessel is finished mainly in marine ply with teak veneers and solid teak trim.
Engines
Not the original engine this Volvo Penta 18 hp 2002 marine diesel engine was installed much later and has been well maintained under the current ownership. This has proven to be a very reliable unit and has always fired up upon demand.
Sails and Rigging
Thalassa's main sail is stated as being good, she has both heavy and light weight genoas both said to be in a fair condition. The mainsail benefits from having lazy jacks fitted together with a conventional main sail cover.
The mast and boom are are of silver anodised aluminium with the boom being set up for slab reefing.
The standing rigging is of uncertain age but appears sound, the running rigging is in a satisfactory condition.
The vessel is sailed regularly and everything is in good working order.
Inventory
The inventory is extensive and includes magnetic steering compass; echo sounder; log/speed; wind speed and direction; VHF; GPS; autopilot; two anchors each with their own chain and warp; manual anchor windlass; clock; barometer; horn; manual and electric bilge pumps; boathook; navigation lights; boarding ladder; warps and fenders; dodgers.
Accommodation and layout
The Arpege has berths for six people, two saloon berths with two pilot berths above and two quarter berths. The forward cabin iis basically used for sail storage but can easily be adapted to serve as further berths if required.
the heads is located between the forward cabin and the saloon together with a large hanging locker.
The navigation area is located aft of the saloon on the starboard side with galley opposite to port.
The galley is fitted with a Plastimo Atlantic gas stove with two burners, grill and oven, the galley also benefits from having a pressurised cold water supply and an ice box.
Aditional information
Thalassa is equipped with an excellent custom made Habitent which really expands the accommodation and is a useful asset.
The vessel has the folding stainless steel framework for a sprayhood but no useable sprayhood comes with the vessel although an old one may be available that could be used as a template.
The vessel
The Dufour Arpege has proven to be a fast and capable cruising yacht with a successful racing career in earlier times. She will still be competitive at club level and is considered to be one of best designs of this size. Thalassa in particular has handled the Irish sea at its worse with ease and gives a considerable amount of confidence, she is a very forgiving type of vessel.
