One of the most popular sailboats ever built!
Over 1000 of these were built, beginning in 1971, with numerous upgrades and variants incorporated in the following years. This particular boat, launched in 1982, benefits from the experience brought to bear from 11 years of on-the-water experience by the Morgan team with this design. With the ketch rig and quick-disconnect staysail forestay, this boat provides a great deal of sailing flexibility. And her shallow draft is another reason for her many years of popularity in the shallow waters of the Caribbean.
Her center cockpit design results in a spacious aft cabin with its own head/shower, plus the main head forward and a V-berth guest cabin forward.
In addition to looking much newer, inside and out, than her age, Ambiance offers multiple sources of cabin heat (bulkhead diesel radiant heat in the main cabin, and installed 110V in the aft cabin), plus a Red Dot heating system that has been diverted to heating water (new water heater 2015) but that could easily be routed again to the Red Dot cabin fans if desired.
The electronics are modern and complete, led by a Garmin GPS Map 192C at the binnacle and mast-mounted radar. Last bottom paint was just 2 years ago.
Her Perkins 4-154 is original but this is the upgraded, larger diesel from what was originally supplied in the first 10 years.
Other extras include the clear acrylic "shades" over the many portlights, allowing excellent venting without rain getting inside. The refrigerator will make and keep ice frozen, plus there is a separate insulated icebox at the forward end of the hallway to the aft cabin. All wood surfaces and other surfaces inside the boat show extremely well for a boat of this vintage.
Ambiance is now a part-time liveaboard so various creature comforts like the forward cabin clothes-hanging dowel have been installed.
On deck, the canvas is in good condition with a stack-pack on the main, detachable inner forestay for the staysail, roller-furling genoa, windlass, spare anchors, solar panel, barbecue, and a large 12V davits system for the dinghy/ob.
